Inspiration for “Vitiligo Beauty”

This print “Vitiligo Beauty” is part of my new series titled “Redefining Beauty” which challenges what society believes “real beauty” is. It gives a voice to those who are not often represented in our culture.  Winnie Harlow is the subject for this painting. She is a Canadian fashion model and public spokesperson on the skin condition vitiligo. She gained prominence as a contestant on the twenty-first cycle of the U.S. television series America’s Next Top Model due to her condition.

Artist, Nicole Troup, chose her in this series, because she has something precious and valuable to offer those who struggle with their appearance; hope and self acceptance. If Winnie can learn to love and accept herself while living with a rare skin condition, then we can all learn to see the beauty in ourselves.

This print makes a powerful statement, encouraging you to embrace your unique beauty and love yourself for who you are.
